I really wish I have had the time to write more often and make more updates but there’s no use dwelling on the past! I’ve read several books in this span of time too and I would love to be able to get around to writing reviews for all of them but that would take me AGES so I’m going to plan on picking up with the last book I finished and carry on with vigor!
Anyway, fall is finally here!! And with this wonderful season comes all my very favorite things like Pumpkin Spice Lattes, vibrant leaves, sweaters, leaf piles, and chilly weather! (I’m choosing to ignore the fact that it’s 75 degrees right now in NOVEMBER! But whatever, c’est’ la vie.) There’s something about fall that seems more inspiring for literary escapades than any other season, but it almost feels like everything is brand new. As F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” I could not agree more with that statement and so perhaps it’s the feeling of newness that so inspires me. I’ve been waiting for a long time to really say anything about this but I can hold it back no longer and I feel that the appointed time has sprung on me. For the past year I’ve been working on a new book, Historical Fiction, and I had been telling myself that I would finish this one much faster than the other novel. Granted it took something like three years for me to finally write The End on my first one and after you finish the first one the process comes a bit more easily. So then in the second week or so of October I set a goal for myself that I would complete Novel #2 by the end of the month. That seemed a bit ambitious honestly but I worked hard to push toward the end and after nearly another two weeks, many tears, encouraging texts and calls from my amazing friends, and a few more tears I finally was able to wrap up my first full draft of The Komendant’s Son.
I will be writing another separate post all about that soon but needless to say there was much excitement, happy tears, fast heart rates, and lots of hopping around the house after I wrote those last words. I am now in the revision process (Possibly one of my favorite parts of writing) and have drafted a query letter that, Lord willing, I will be able to submit to a publisher at some point in the nearish future!
I think that’s about it for now so I’ll finish this up with another delightful autumn quote from our beloved Anne Shirley, “It was November- the month of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the sea, passionate wind-songs in the pines.”
